The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe.

 

 

The CNAG Consortium aims to carry out large-scale projects in DNA/RNA analysis for the improvement of quality of life in collaboration with the Spanish, European and International Research Community. CNAG researchers participate in major International Genome Initiatives such as the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.

 

 

 

 

The Role

 

The Post-Award Grants Officer is responsible for the management of the funds received related to the projects or collaboration agreements with the different institutions that have been assigned to the center, the control of the expenditure, the fulfilment of the conditions, as well as the post-award closure of these funds and the elaboration of financial reports. Proactively supports the center and Pre-award activity, in obtaining competitive funds for research and institute related activities, manages the financing of principal investigators with individualized professional support throughout the project lifecycle, following internal policies and the terms and conditions of the funding agencies.

 

The Post-Award Grants Officer position reports directly to Finance Management, framed within the Finance department of the center.

 

 

 

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Manage and monitor the budget and expenditure levels of assigned projects to provide project holders with regular monitoring in relation to expenditure control, budget variances and budget forecasts, applying a strategic view of fund management.
  • Work with the Principal Investigators of the projects, carefully planning the use of the human and financial resources of the centre's projects, both national and European.
  • To be responsible for the regular (interim and official) reporting of projects to funding agencies, as well as quarterly reports to project coordinators.
  • Maintain the project information updated in the SAP Business One project database, and monitor the budget as well as the centre's income.
  • Work with the centre's external auditors for the projects. Prepare and manage the necessary documentation.
  • Maintain contact with the Principal Investigators of the projects and provide them with the information they need on the individual projects.

 

 

 

 

Whom would we like to hire?

 

  • Degree in Economics, Business Administration or similar
  • Master's degree in Auditing or similar would be an asset
  • Specific relevant postgraduate or other courses will be an asset
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • High level in Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Intermediate level of English
  • 1-3 years experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of R&D project management
  • Knowledge of audit processes
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Organised and methodical
  • Have initiative and proactivity
  • Be able to work individually and as part of a team
  • Be able to work under pressure
