The largest center for genomic analysis in Spain and a worldwide reference have passed the 6th follow-up audit carried out by ENAC, the official Spanish National Accreditation Body. 

This accreditation recognizes the technical competence of our organization to perform genomic analysis by next generation sequencing.

13 July 2023. According to our strategy, one of the most important commitments of the Consorcio Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is ensuring the excellence and the highest quality in genome analysis. Seven years ago CNAG became the first and still the unique center for massive genome sequencing in Spain to achieve the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation by ENAC, an independent non-profit organization appointed as the Spanish National Accreditation Body. Now we are pleased to announce that we have passed the 6th follow-up audit by ENAC, once again guarantying the competence of our organization to perform genomic analysis by next generation sequencing.

The ISO/ICE 17025:2017 is an international standard for laboratories, which describes the requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. To obtain this accreditation, CNAG submitted to rigorous controls, with the objective of continuous improvement, minimizing potential errors and reaching the highest level in our core technical procedures.

The ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredits our capability for genome analysis performed at our laboratory, which include the analysis of different types of sequencing applications: whole genome, whole exome or custom capture, whole genome methylation, stranded total RNA and mRNA analysis, all of them by next generation sequencing.

In addition to that accreditation and regarding our continued commitment to quality, the Consortium CNAG management system is also UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 certified since 2014. CNAG has the BBMRI-ERIC (European Research Infrastructure for Biobanking and Biomolecules) recognition as an expert centre in the analysis of biological samples that generates primary data under internationally recognized standards. In relation to its state-of-the-art technologies, CNAG is also certified Service Provider for Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing on the GridION and PromethION devices.
