The European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) hosts several genomic databases and repositories widely accessed (over a million unique users in 2009), our interaction with our large user community, alongside our involvement in numerous European and International consortia allows us to review the latest developments in the field from a privileged situation.

In this seminar I will provide an update based on some of our contributions, as well looking towards the future, with an outlook on what's coming.
