The CNAG participated in the European Researchers’ Night organized by at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) on 25th September 2015. This event is a key project of the European Programme “Horizon 2020” and this year celebrated its 10th edition in more than 300 european cities.

 

Considering that 2015 is the International Year of Light, the topic was the light and its importance in the current technologies and research that are improving our society. Institutions showed their research by entertaining activities such as hands-on experiments, exhibitions and workshops.

 

The CNAG team (Sophia Derdak, Enric Serra, Katja Kahlem, Esther Lizano, Giulia Lunazzi & Mireia Nel·lo) prepared an interactive activity called “Posa-li llum als teus gens” (Shine light on your genes) to show how sequencing works, the role of light on it, the relevant benefits of the development of this technique for the challenges of our society and the importance of the CNAG in this field.

 

Other institutions collaborating in this event were the Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (ICFO), the Centre de Recerca Agrigenòmica (CRAG), the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG)], and the Institut de Recerca Biomèdica (IRB), among others.
