The two students have spent two days at the CNAG visiting the different departments and learning how genome sequencing and analysis are performed at our institute

Queralt Tolosa and Estel Palau are the two high school students who won the Barcelona Science Park Award during the 2013 edition of Exporecerca Jove. The prize consisted in a stay of two days at the CNAG, where they have visited all our departments learning how DNA samples are handled and how bioinformatic analysis is performed. Exporecerca Jove is an exhibition of research projects that welcomes the participation of young people from 12 to 30 years. It's mission is to promote research among youth, promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge and enhance participation in this and other fairs and conferences nationally and internationally.

 

Queralt Tolosa comes from the Institut Vilatzara at Vilassar de Dalt, she is 17 years old and her research project focused on Epigenetics and Rett Syndrome. She will start studying Biochemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona this year.

 

Estel Palau comes from the Institut El Vern at Lliçà de Vall, she is 12 years old and her research project was on Cancer. This year she will study 2nd of ESO and she still doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up.
